1. Who We Are
DuckViz is a trading name used by Vikas Awaghade, a sole proprietor under Indian law, based at The Orchid, Ivy Estate Road, Wagholi, Pune 412207, Maharashtra, India. All references in these Terms to "DuckViz," "we," "us," or "our" refer to this business.

2. Definitions
- "User", "you", or "your" refers to any individual or entity accessing or using the Service.
- "Credits" refers to the virtual currency used to access AI-powered features on the platform.
- "Data Source" refers to any file, database connection, or API endpoint from which you load data into the platform.
- "Consumer" has the meaning given in applicable consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction (e.g., the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, or the Indian Consumer Protection Act 2019).
3. Account Registration
Certain features require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it updated. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account.
4. Service Description
DuckViz is an AI-powered data analysis and visualization platform. Key characteristics:
- Client-side processing: Your data files (CSV, Excel, JSON, XML, logs) are processed entirely within your browser using DuckDB-WASM. Raw data is never uploaded to our servers.
- AI features: When you use AI-powered features (widget recommendations, key insights, report generation, presentation generation), only your data schema and metadata are sent to our AI providers. Actual row-level data stays in your browser.
- Dashboards and visualizations: AI recommends visualizations from 80+ chart types and builds interactive drag-and-drop dashboards. You may create multiple named dashboards.
- Reports and presentations: AI generates executive reports (editable in a Notion-like editor) and PowerPoint presentations from your dashboard data. Exports are available in PDF, Word (DOCX), and PowerPoint (PPTX) formats.
- Session persistence: Your application state (files, tables, dashboards, settings) is stored in your browser's IndexedDB for session recovery. This data never leaves your device.
- Credits system: AI features consume credits. New accounts receive free credits. Additional credits can be purchased through our one-time credit packs.
5. Credits and Payments
5.1 Credit Usage
Each AI-powered action on the platform consumes a set number of credits. Credit costs per action are displayed in the application. Credits are deducted atomically at the start of an AI call and automatically refunded if the call fails or times out. Non-AI actions (file uploads, manual queries, exports) do not consume credits.
5.2 Purchasing Credits and Merchant of Record
Credits can be purchased through our available credit packs. All prices are listed in US Dollars (USD) and are exclusive of any applicable taxes (including VAT, GST, and sales tax), which are calculated and collected at checkout based on your billing location. Purchased credits do not expire and are non-transferable between accounts.
Credit purchases are sold and fulfilled by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), who acts as the Merchant of Record ("MoR") for every transaction. This means Paddle — not DuckViz — is the seller on your invoice and receipt, is responsible for collecting and remitting applicable taxes, and handles payment processing, fraud screening, and chargebacks. Your contractual relationship for the sale of credits is with Paddle; DuckViz then provides the underlying service (credits and AI functionality) to you. 5.3 No Subscriptions
Credit purchases are one-time transactions. There are no recurring subscriptions or automatic renewals. You only pay when you choose to buy more credits.
5.4 Refunds
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all new credit purchases. Full refund terms are set out in our Refund Policy.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
- Upload or process data you are not authorised to process, or data subject to legal restrictions (including, without limitation, regulated health, financial, or classified information) without appropriate safeguards.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or exploit the Service beyond its intended functionality or its open-source components' licences.
- Automate access to the Service (bots, scrapers) beyond the use of our published APIs, SDK, and CLI.
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense credits or account access to the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' sessions.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our IP
The Service, including its design, code, branding, chart components, report templates, and documentation, is owned by DuckViz and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without permission, except under any open-source licence we publish for specific components.
7.2 Your Data
You retain full ownership of all data you upload or process through the Service. Since file data is processed client-side, we do not store, access, or claim any rights to your data. Reports, dashboards, and presentations you generate are yours.
7.3 AI-Generated Output
Subject to applicable law and the terms of our AI provider, you own the outputs generated by the Service from your data, including dashboards, reports, and presentations. You are responsible for ensuring that the outputs are accurate and appropriate for your intended use.
8. Third-Party Services and Sub-Processors
A full list of sub-processors is maintained in our Privacy Policy. In summary, DuckViz integrates with:
- OpenAI — AI model provider. Schema and metadata only; never raw data. Subject to OpenAI's terms.
- Supabase — authentication and account management.
- Cloudflare — application hosting and edge security.
- Paddle — Merchant of Record for credit purchases: processes payments, collects and remits taxes, and issues invoices and receipts.
Your use of AI features is also subject to the respective provider's terms.
9. Disclaimers
Except as required by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- AI-generated insights, reports, presentations, or recommendations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose.
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Results will meet your specific requirements.
You are responsible for verifying AI-generated outputs before making business, financial, legal, or medical decisions based on them. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any non-excludable statutory rights you have as a consumer.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DuckViz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or death and personal injury caused by negligence).
11. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Remaining credits on a terminated or deleted account are subject to our Refund Policy.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence, the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the UK, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
We prefer to resolve disputes informally. Please contact us at support@duckviz.com before initiating any formal proceeding.
14. Severability and Assignment
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. We may assign these Terms in connection with a transfer of the Service or business; you may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.
