About

A small, privacy-first take on data analysis.

Hi, I'm Vikas Awaghade. I started DuckViz because I kept running into the same gap at work: people needed quick answers from their data, and nothing on the shelf let them do it without first handing the data over to someone else.

Why it exists

Across a few different products I've worked on — SIEM dashboards, infra visualisations, a pipeline observability tool — one pattern kept showing up:

Data is exported by one team. The dashboard is rebuilt by another. The numbers are obsolete before the meeting begins. And every reporting cycle, the same workflow repeats.

Enterprise BI tools felt too heavy for the job. Spreadsheets were too manual. And the newer AI tools all want you to upload your data to a third party first — which doesn't really work when you're looking at customer records, finance exports, or production logs.

So I tried building the thing I wished I'd had. You drop a file. AI reads the schema, not your rows. DuckDB-WASM runs the queries inside your browser. You get a dashboard in seconds, a written report in minutes, and a deck you can take into a meeting. The data never leaves your device.

No subscription, no upload, no sales call.

The two biggest line items in a 2026 data stack — AI spend and data exposure — come from the same bad habit: shipping rows to a model that doesn't need them. DuckViz doesn't ship them.

A bit of background

I've spent most of my career on the frontend side of data-heavy products — previously at Securonix, Ollion (formerly CloudCover), The Non-Functional Co., and DataBahn.ai. Mostly D3, design systems, and the unglamorous work of making large datasets feel quick in a browser. My LinkedIn has the long version if you're curious.

How it's built

Your data is yours. AI only sees column names and types — never your actual values. Rows stay on your device, in the browser.

Credits, not subscriptions. Buy what you need, credits don't expire, no auto-renewal.

Usable inside your own app too. There's a React SDK, a Node SDK, and a CLI, so you don't have to rebuild the dashboard if you want to embed it somewhere.
